Absinthe

True Absinthe is now legal in the United States as of October 16, 2007 due to a few respected lawyers.

The misconceptions about thujone are widely accepted due to humans being gullible. Despite what you may hear, thujone is a poison and you do not want to ingest it. Also, the levels of thujone in Absinthe are very much the same as they were one hundred years ago, although the levels can vary by distiller.

Doing your own research can be enlightening.

My Favorites

St. George Absinthe Verte currently holds the top slot. It is a powerful elixir.

Next favorite is Lucid, which tastes very much like a traditional Absinthe.

Other Brands

Le Tourment Vert is very good, but at first it was a bit bland and reminiscent of mouthwash. After one week and three drinks I found myself looking forward to un'autre.

Kubler is also traditional but I found it a bit weak with an aspertain taste.

Bogus

Whatever you do, avoid the Absinthe Buyers Guide, as they run a misleading and bogus web site. For more accurate facts visit The Wormwood Society or La Fée Verte.
